Reported problem with "Contact Me" form on my blog

I've now had two people tell me that (and I quote from the second report) "your "Contact Me" widget blocks the left most several letters of each line of your text. It really makes the text hard to understand." Does anyone else have this problem? I cannot see it in either Firefox 19 or Internet Explorer 8; in both I have no problem except that the right-hand side of the Contact Me form itself is truncated but the blog text is fine.

If you do have a problem can you tell me what browser you are using on what OS and device (e.g. desktop computer, etc.) and with what settings, please? Thanks.

David.

  1. I can read the blog text just fine, but the contact me form is cut off on the right (the line under "Contact Me" reads "Use this form to mail n" - that last letter could be an "m" that's cut off); as if the blog column is covering part of the form. On Chrome, with laptop running Vista.

  2. David,

I'm using Firefox 18.0.2 and Windows 7 . . . and for me the right hand part of the widget is cut at "to mail m" . . . however I'm using a lower screen resolution (1024 x 768) because otherwise text on so many pages is not legible.

  4. Thanks for the info., Jeff. Yes, that does seem to be standard for may of us - but doesn't stop the form being usable, though, fortunately. Strange that some people are having the blog text truncated instead...

    Cheers,

    David.

  6. Hi Steve,

So you can't see the contact form at all? That's a new one! Do you have e.g. NoScript installed as an add-on in Firefox? That might well block it.

    Thanks for the info..

    Cheers,

    David.

  9. I tried changing the screen size to some wider versions and it still doesn't show.... an interesting problem! :o)

    Hopefully this will display...

My only suggestion would be to expand the width of your display slightly ("Adjust widths" in the Template Designer)

  10. Hi Steve,

Thanks for the further detail and image. Unfortunately my template is a fixed width one and doesn't allow any adjustment.

I wonder if that would help in this case anyway, as I'm sure that what you see is the same as I have had when NoScript is not allowing access to e.g. Javascript. But as you say you don't have NoScript working to block this then it can't be that.

    It's still a conundrum, I fear!

    Cheers,

    David.
